Biofibres

Research associated with the implementation of biofibres which present some kind of functionality in the development of technical textiles. Properties such as skin regeneration, hydration or the elimination of fungus and bacteria can be induced in a textile medium through the adequate use of biofibres in processes of spinning and weaving.

Acoustic and thermal comfort in textile materials

Evaluation of acoustic and thermal comfort in construction, always based on base-textile substrates or compound materials created using textile by-products.

From this perspective, emotional design offers the chance to innovate in the conception of user-oriented products, achieving a more emotional bond between user and product, thereby improving reactions and enhancing competitiveness.

Addition of nanoparticles to nanofibre veils

Nanofibre veils can be enhanced through nanoparticles incorporated into the precursor polymer dilution. The nanoparticles are homogeneously distributed in the dilution so they can be incorporated into the nanofibres obtained by means of electrospinning. These products have very good projection as catalysts in electrochemical reactions, anti-bacterial agents, electromagnetic screening, decomposition of organic matter, etc.

Technical coatings

Research and development of state-of-the-art finishes, capable of giving special properties to textile substrates, setting them apart from conventional textiles. Integration of conductive threads to create heated garments, t-shirts that monitor the wearer’s breathing and temperature, and cooling upholstery through the integration of Peltier cells.

Photo and thermo-active textiles

Research and development of fabrics to which chromo-active pigments have been added to carry out different functions in the field of health and safety.

Development of formulas using polymers enhanced through the mass addition of photo and/or thermochromic pigments to obtain fibres and fabrics.

Classification of the fire reaction of construction materials

AITEX evaluates the Fire Reaction rating of all kinds of textile and construction materials, in accordance with the European Standard UNE EN 13501-1:2007.

This European Standard establishes 7 ratings: A1, A2, B, C, D, E and F; which define the contribution of a material to a fire, with A1 being the best possible rating. These ratings are complemented with two additional parameters:

  • Smoke opaqueness: s1 (low), s2 and s3 (high).
  • Dripping or falling of alight particles: d0 (none), d1 and d2 (dangerous)  

A material is classified depending on its final application.

Classification of the fire behaviour of interior design materials

The characteristics of materials used in interior design and decoration and for other uses could be a potential risk in terms of starting or spreading a fire. Therefore, AITEX tests the fire behaviour in materials for differents interiors.
