INNFORMULATION II– RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW INGREDIENTS FOR EFFICIENT NATURAL COSMETIC FORMULATIONS

MOTIVATION
If a cosmetic manufacturer is to remain competitive depends to a large extent on their capacity to develop quality products and adapt to the trends and demands of a dynamic market through innovation. In recent years, interest has grown in the use of ingredients of natural origin in the cosmetics sector, with the aim of obtaining better results and greater effects, thus providing added value to products while remaining environmentally friendly.
Cosmetic products contain synthetic substances that may cause problems in skin health in the short, medium or long term. To combat these effects, natural organic formulas have been developed to increase the use of ingredients from nature. This project aims to use these ingredients to manufacture natural cosmetics.
This important trend for natural cosmetics is driven by a change in consumer attitudes, inclining towards responsible and environmentally friendly consumption.
Cosmetic manufacturers follow this global trend and are always on the lookout for natural raw materials to develop products they can label eco-friendly, 100% natural or “free”.
Another concern of consumers is the efficiency and safety of cosmetic products. Today’s consumer is more interested in knowing the ingredients and the tests used on the products they purchase, and is willing to pay up to 20% more in face care and dental care products, if they are more effective (Consumolab).
One strategy to improve these aspects is to develop methods of obtaining assets from waste materials to give them a new lease of life, cosmetics that don’t make false claims and packaging that is sustainable while providing functional improvements.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the project is to develop a portfolio of cosmetic formulations with different textures that include natural formulations, sunscreens and dry formulations, which the user mixes with water. These formulations respond to the needs of the cosmetic sector for innovative products that are more natural and committed to the environment.
Within this general objective are three goals:
- To develop an internal active ingredient extraction protocol.
- To develop a portfolio of textures in different cosmetic forms.
- To obtain a portfolio of sustainable and functional packaging.
EXPECTED RESULTS
The expected results of the project fall into three lines:
- EXTRACTION OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS FROM PLANT MATERIAL
- PORTFOLIO OF TEXTURES OF COSMETIC FORMULAS
- PORTFOLIO OF SUSTAINABLE AND FUNCTIONAL PACKAGING
