The European General Product Safety Directive (GPSD, Directive 2001/95/EC) is an important law for products that do not have specific legislation. It also complements those for products that do have specific legislation, such as cosmetics, toys and electronic products.

The new Decision entered into force on 1 December 2020, the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
