ECHA LAUNCHES PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON EIGHT NEW SUBSTANCES WITH THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME SVHCS

On 9th March 2021, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched its first public consultation of 2021 on eight proposals for substances of very high concern (SVHC).

Interested parties have until 23rd April 2021 to submit comments and additional information on the use, exposure, alternatives and risks of the substances to ECHA.

It should be noted that companies may have legal obligations arising from the inclusion of substances on the candidate list. These obligations, which take effect from the date of inclusion, relate not only to substances listed as such or in mixtures, but also to their presence in articles.

The eight proposed substances and their classification are listed below:
