NAUTICAL
The nautical sector continues to grow nationally and is currently experiencing a boom in the registration of recreational craft such as yachts and motor boats and in marine equipment. The growing sales of boats has created a need to consider higher quality, safety and security regulations.
At AITEX, in addition to being a Notified Body, we offer an integral customised service for manufacturers and suppliers of components for boats and marine equipment and carry out tests and trials to validate the quality, durability and strength of the materials used in vessels.
WHAT DO WE OFFER THE NAUTICAL MARKET?
Specialised laboratories to meet the needs of component manufacturers for ships and marine equipment.
Development of research and innovation projects to offer added-value marine solutions.
Highly specialised technical training for companies and manufacturers in the nautical sector.
LABORATORY
AUTOMOTIVE AND TRANSPORT LABORATORY
At AITEX, we strive to respond to the demands and needs of our customers by offering an integrated service for suppliers and manufacturers of ship components and nautical equipment. Our automotive and transport laboratory performs QA, durability, safety and sustainability tests on nautical equipment.
We use specific material ageing tests in climatic chambers, physical and chemical tests, emissions and reaction to fire tests in compliance with the IMO’s existing international regulations.
FIRE PERFORMANCE LABORATORY
The Institute analyses and evaluates how fire affects the materials used in the manufacture of marine equipment and vessels.
We carry out continuous evaluations of the materials used; ease of ignition, the density and opacity of smoke emitted in a fire and its toxicity in compliance with the IMO’s existing international regulations.
R&D PROJECTS IN THE NAUTICAL MARKET
LIGHTCOMP Project
The Lightcomp 2021 project: composite manufacturing is time-consuming and costly. Added to this is the fact that synthetic fibres such as carbon fibres are not sustainable.
One of the main objectives of the LIGHTCOMP project is to reduce both of these factors by combining the Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) embroidery technology with composites manufacturing.
Developing lightweight but strong, multifunctional composites using TFP technology for industry furniture, sports and naval equipment.
