TRIALS TO TEST THE SPF FACTOR OF SUN CARE COSMETIC PRODUCTS
What is the sun protection factor (SPF)?
The sun protection factor SPF index determines the protection offered by an article or product against ultraviolet B radiation. The SPF value works by multiplying the time the skin can be exposed to the sun, so a user who is sunburned after ten minutes with an SPF 30 product could be exposed to the sun for three hundred minutes until sunburn occurs.
Cosmetic products that include a sun protection factor increase the skin’s protection from the sun for longer, depending on the SPF number displayed, determined by laboratory and field testing and an evaluation of the ingredients or components.
Leading laboratory in SPF determination
AITEX is a registered laboratory for SPF determination in cosmetic products. Our equipment enables us to perform high-performance SPF tests and dermatological studies and multiple tests can be carried out simultaneously rapidly.
The systems are fully integrated for fast, efficient and accurate UV transmittance analysis for sunscreens, liquids, lotions, creams, textiles, sprays, gels, powders, emulsions, etc.
ANALYSIS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE DEGREE OF SPF IN SUN CARE PRODUCTS
DETERMINATION OF THE SPF (SUN PROTECTION FACTOR, AGAINST UVB RAYS)
This is an in vivo test on subjects in accordance with all existing regulations. The protection factor index is defined based on the difference between the skin of treated and untreated subjects.
UVA-PF (UVA PROTECTION FACTOR) DETERMINATION
The test evaluates the transmission of UV rays on a rough surface that has previously been protected by a sun protection product.
