TECHNICAL TEXTILE DYES AND FINISHES FROM THE VALORISATION OF NATURAL MATERIALS AND WASTES
APRONATEX 2
Motivation
In order to address the challenges faced by the textile sector and the consequences of its activity, the aim is to develop a legal framework that focuses on preventing the generation of wastewater and promoting the use of increasingly eco-sustainable reagents and compounds.
Environmental policies are becoming more restrictive regarding water usage. Along with the intent to protect the planet, there is a growing emphasis on ensuring that the reagents used in dyeing processes are less toxic to humans. This fosters innovation in sustainable textile dyeing and finishing processes using natural technical materials or waste, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Spanish textile companies.
Objectives
- Improve extraction, dyeing, printing and pre-treatment processes for finishing with natural dyes.
- Research biotechnological processes to create new pigments/actives for textile applications.
- Research into the use of waste for textile finishing.
Expected results
Develop new sustainable solutions applicable in dyeing and technical finishing processes from natural materials and waste.
