FORMULATION OF NATURAL SOLUTIONS FOR DETERGENCY AND AGROCHEMICAL APPLICATIONS
CLEAN2GREEN
Motivation
Cleaning products often leave a significant ecological footprint due to their composition. Their ingredients have the potential to pollute water, are poorly biodegradable, ecotoxic and have a potential impact on health. The constant discharge of domestic and industrial waste into the seas, rivers and sewage systems is a serious threat to the marine environment. The growing demand for “green” products from a society more conscious of its environmental impact is driving manufacturers to reformulate their products into sustainable, eco-friendly products using natural ingredients.
On the other hand, the agrochemical industry is also evolving, driven by the growing global demand for food and the need to produce it more efficiently and sustainably. The agrochemical industry is increasingly focusing on developing products that are safer, more effective, less toxic and respectful of the environment and health. In this context, this project seeks to develop formulations that are highly effective, biodegradable, eco-friendly with a higher degree of natural compounds avoiding petroleum-based raw materials while maintaining the efficacy of the product.
Objectives
The main objective is the development of sustainable and effective formulations from natural ingredients and additives to reduce the use of surfactants, synthetic polymers and other ingredients of low biodegradability with a high environmental impact.
Research will also be carried out on solutions to eliminate the use of microplastics and enable biocide-free labelling.
To achieve these objectives, the project will be divided into two lines of work: the main line of home care and body cleansing, and a second minor line which will research agrochemicals.
Expected results
- Development of at least two body cleansing and two opaque and stable home care formulations based on non-microplastic opacifiers of natural origin.
- Develop at least two body cleansing formulations and two home care formulations (one dishwashing and one detergent) preserved without biocides with barrier technology.
