High value-added solutions for strategic markets
DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF AN ADVANCED FORMAT USING FUNCTIONALISED NANOFIBRES WITH TOPICAL APPLICATIONS IN COSMETICS AND HEALTH
CLINIC PLUS
Motivation
The project arises from the need to improve products intended for personal health care, from the perspective of sustainability and innovation, as they represent a significant source of pollution and high consumption of natural resources. This initiative is based on the approach of “responsible innovation,” aligning with the principles of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, promoting business practices that generate a positive impact on society and the environment. The purpose is to modernize industrial infrastructure and promote cleaner technologies, thereby contributing to the promotion of sustainable industrialization and innovation.
Objectives
- Develop and validate an advanced functionalised electrospun nanofibre veil to provide an improved format as an alternative to conventional formulations.
- Improve the efficacy of existing treatments and promote more sustainable practices in the cosmetics and healthcare industry.
- Establish standards of safety, efficacy and sustainability, consolidating and extending the leading position of AITEX and the companies collaborating in the project in healthcare.
Expected results
- Develop and optimise polymers to obtain nanofibres by electrospinning, with improvements in morphology, structure and capacity for encapsulation of active ingredients.
- Research and incorporate actives in nanofibres, determining their physical, chemical and functional properties.
- Develop process scale-up studies to assess the feasibility of large-scale manufacturing of the nanofibres and additive
- Characterise physical properties such as morphology and mechanical strength and evaluate chemical properties such as content uniformity.
- Assess functionality and efficacy, including active ingredient release kinetics, dermal penetration simulation and in vitro studies using cell cultures.
- Perform microbiological and biosafety controls to ensure the quality and safety of the products
