New high-performance functionalised materials
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH DENSITY FABRICS FOR TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS.
DENSITEX
Motivation
The need of the textile sector to achieve greater sustainability is the basis for this project, which seeks to prioritise the use of sustainable materials as an alternative to the virgin synthetic fibres commonly used today. The approach is to reduce the environmental impact of textile production and improve the lighting and acoustic comfort of spaces, saving energy and optimising resource consumption.
In addition, this project addresses the need for innovation in the textile industry. It seeks to develop textile solutions that are not only sustainable but competitive. This involves exploring new technologies and production processes and researching alternative materials and optimising the technical characteristics of the fabrics. Finally, the project promotes the diversification of textile applications.
Objectives
- Design, create and optimise high density fabrics for technical applications in luminosity, acoustics and filtering from yarns of different nature with different counts and complex sections.
- Improve the properties of high-density fabrics for technical applications in luminosity, acoustics and filtering.
- Increase the comfort and energy efficiency of spaces, as well as in the improvement of the technical properties of the fabrics used for filtration.
- Prioritise the use of more sustainable materials compared to those currently in use, contributing to the reduction of environmental impact and promoting more responsible practices in the Valencian textile industry.
Expected results
- Sourcing yarns of different natures and materials using mono and multifilament spinning technologies, and the development of high density fabrics using these yarns.
- Development of multilayer fabrics designed to meet various technical requirements and facilitate subsequent sorting and recycling processes.
- Optimisation of the structures and the densities of the fabrics, focusing on their application in luminosity, acoustics and filtering.
- Characterisation and analysis of the properties of the developments providing key information on performance and potential applications.
- Development of semi-industrial scale prototypes using the different fabrics developed during the project, demonstrating their practical applicability and functionality.
