The ACCLITEXSYS project aims to study the conceptual development and evaluation of different technological approaches for the stabilization of the soldier’s body temperature. Complex conditions of dismounted soldier systems in different missions have been taken into account (task activity levels/metabolic rate, extreme weather conditions, equipment carried and other factors).

The main goal has been to study the feasibility of a new acclimatisation textile system, regarding active and passive technologies that can act as a temperature regulator by monitoring and responding to the soldier’s body needs, taking into account different environment conditions.

To serve this purpose, the study has identified and analyzed possible solutions, and has also studied evaluation techniques in order to evaluate their performance regarding thermal regulation and thermal comfort.

The ACCLITEXSYS has assessed the merits of the most suitable advanced textile materials and structures/technologies towards a solution that allows the adequate body thermal management for comfort and ergonomics.

For extreme climate conditions the active thermal regulation will give an important support to passive technologies:

– For hot environments the active technologies will remove excess body heat and reduce body core temperature by conduction and convection.

– For cold environments the active system will introduce heat into the clothing minimizing the need for heat generation by muscle movements if body temperature falls below a critical level.

For promising materials and technologies, system integration and industrial production potential have been studied and incorporated in the concept, as well as cost analysis.
