In order to improve and expand our testing capabilities in the automotive and transport sector, AITEX has recently acquired new equipment for abrasion and friction testing. With the installation of the new equipment, AITEX reaffirms its commitment to innovation in its laboratories through the implementation of the latest and most cutting-edge equipment on the market.
ABRASION EQUIPMENT
The new abrasion equipment enables the Institute to perform abrasion or flocking wear simulations, evaluating both the quality of the materials and the quality of the flocking processes.
The materials that can be analysed with this equipment include rigid materials – metal, wood and plastics, flexible materials – textiles, foils, etc. – and other materials such as rubber profiles.
The highly versatile equipment enables other test tests to be carried out, such as Scratching and Scraping, replacing the heads with piano wire on fabrics, non-woven fabrics and knitted fabrics that make up the coatings of the visible parts of the vehicle.
The equipment tests materials in compliance with the following standards:
– Volkswagen Group: PV 3949, PV 3366 and PV 3932
– Renault and PSA Group: D44 1900, D44 1221, D24 1724, D44 5602 and D44 1959
– Mercedes group: DBL 5306 and DBL 7384
FRICTION EQUIPMENT
AITEX’s new equipment evaluates the resistance of materials to wear or friction produced by cyclical rubbing movements against different abrasive materials.
The arched test face enables all curved materials in the interior of the vehicle, such as pillars and seats to be tested, and is an important increase in the scope of tests we can perform for the automotive and transport sectors, specifically under the following standards:
