The managing directors of the 17 member institutes of OEKO-TEX® recently gathered at AITEX in Alcoy for the Annual Association Meeting. Held in the newly inaugurated AITEX facilities, this event provided an opportunity for these leaders of the global network to learn firsthand about the innovations in technology, sustainability, and certification services being developed at Spain’s leading research and development institute in the textile sector.
Additionally, they enjoyed a cultural programme, touring some of the most iconic landmarks in Alcoy and Alicante, further strengthening ties among international partners.
AITEX, the only Spanish centre accredited to award OEKO-TEX® certifications
The choice of AITEX as the venue for this important event highlights its prominent role within the textile industry, where it remains the only Spanish institute accredited to issue globally recognised OEKO-TEX® certifications, including Standard 100, Leather Standard, Made in Green, Organic Cotton, STeP, and Eco Passport. These certifications help to ensure the safety and sustainability of textile and leather products, bringing transparency across the entire supply chain and providing assurance to consumers and businesses alike.
In an environment where the demand for sustainable and safe textiles is rapidly increasing, AITEX reaffirms its commitment to responsible innovation and sector support, promoting practices aligned with international sustainability standards. Hosting the OEKO-TEX® Annual Meeting at its facilities not only consolidates AITEX’s global reputation but also reinforces its role as a key player in developing a safer and more sustainable textile industry.
