AITEX’s 2019 Science Campus for third and fourth year high school students

There are 30 grants available; 15 for third year students and 15 for fourth year students.

The Institute has launched the “AITEX Scientific Campus” to support and encourage young people to study scientific and technical qualifications with applications in the textile industry. The idea is to give students hands-on experience in science and its use in problem solving in various fields of research and innovation, as well as promoting coexistence among students from different teaching centres.

The Campus will take place at the AITEX facilities in Alcoy, from June 24 to July 5, 2019, in two 5-day sessions, from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: third and fourth-year students from around the central regions of the Valencian Community will be able to participate in the program.

The Campus will take place at the AITEX facilities in Alcoy, from June 24 to July 5, 2019, in two 5-day sessions, from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: third and fourth-year students from around the central regions of the Valencian Community will be able to participate in the program.During the course at AITEX, students will visit and learn in the Institute’s laboratories: the chemical laboratory, where they can learn about the essays and certifications of wastewater and environment, health and cosmetics, microbiology and chemical analysis. The physical laboratory, geotextiles and sports surfaces. The core accounts laboratory where agreements are signed with companies to perform QA and testing for harmful substances. The fire behaviour laboratory for textile and construction materials. The protective clothing laboratory, to visit the fall tower facilities and different equipment for conducting tests for head, hearing, facial / eye, respiratory, insulation, clothing and gloves and the comfort laboratory, with its rain tower equipment, wind tunnel and climatic chambers.

Additionally the students will gain an insight into the research and development work carried out by the Institute’s R & D groups, and visit the facilities of the various experimental plants of the following groups:

  • Technical Fibres and Nanotechnology (Experimental Plants).
  • Materials and Sustainability (Experimental Plants).
  • Smart Textiles and ICT Solutions (Experimental Plants).
  • Technical Finishes, Health and Biotechnology (Experimental Plants).
  • Innovation in Fashion, Design and Garment-making (Experimental Plants).

During the AITEX Scientific Campus, students will also visit textile companies in the area to see the industry’s most up to date and innovative manufacturing facilities.
