FIFA ARTIFICAL TURF

WHAT IS THE FIFA CERTIFICATE?

The FIFA quality certificate for synthetic artificial turf surfaces is a certification that standardises the quality and safety of artificial turf for sports use.

The FIFA Quality Programme was originally set up with the commitment to improve football at all levels, to ensure the safety of artificial surfaces for football players, to promote the development of artificial turf technology and to support clubs and associations who are looking for products that meet the highest safety and quality requirements.

The FIFA quality certificate guarantees that a synthetic turf is suitable for football, once the pitch meets all the requirements stipulated in the test manual and tests both in the laboratory and on the pitch itself.

¿HOW IS THE PROCESS OF CERTIFICACION OF A SPORT SURFACE?

The process of certification of a sports surface takes place in different phases. Firstly, the artificial turf systems are pre-tested in the laboratory and finally field trials guarantees that the synthetic turf complies with all requirements relating to performance, safety, durability and quality. TESTS TO DETERMINE THE REACTION OF THE BALL WITH THE SURFACE
>       Vertical bouncing of the ball
>       Ball rolling
>       Planicity

TESTS TO DETERMINE THE REACTION OF THE PLAYER WITH THE SURFACE
These tests are of special relevance, and simulate the interaction of the player with the sports surface, determining if the pitch is adequate and safe for the player to use without injury.

FIFA QUALITY MARKS

FIFA has designed two categories or quality marks for artificial turf depending on the needs of the players and the use for which the surfaces are intended:

FIFA QUALITY
Is primarily aimed at grassroots football, mainly in the amateur level. The certification is valid for three years.

The FIFA QUALITY mark to pitches that meet the standard for community and amateur pitches

FIFA QUALITY PRO
Is primarily intended for professional and high-performance football. The certification is valid for one year.

The FIFA QUALITY PRO mark to pitches that ensure the highest playing performance for professional-level football.

WHY INCLUDE THE FIFA QUALITY SEAL ON FOOTBALL PITCHES?

Artificial turf is the best alternative to natural grass due to its resistance to all weather conditions and frequency of use. However, the quality of the different types of artificial turf available on the market varies considerably.

The FIFA quality certificate guarantees that an artificial turf pitch is suitable for football and that a sports field is able to withstand intensive and continuous use, despite weather conditions and other circumstances that may cause wear and tear.

More and more sports federations have made the testing of football pitches mandatory as a certified pitch is the best way to guarantee the quality and safety of these surfaces and the players who use them.
