FIFA FUTSAL CERTIFICATE FOR ARTIFICIAL SURFACES
WHAT IS THE FIFA CERTIFICATE FOR INDOOR FOOTBALL (FUTSAL)?
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association – FIFA is the international body responsible for the sport of football and all its variants, including futsal.
As futsal is played in sports halls where other sports such as basketball or volleyball are also played, FIFA has taken this situation into account when defining the quality standards for sports surfaces for futsal.
FIFA developed the FIFA Quality certificate, which defines the technical criteria that these surfaces must meet with the aim of providing the best playing conditions for the sport of futsal, regardless of the level of competition.
THE AITEX LABORATORY IS FIFA APPROVED
AITEX is one of the network of laboratories accredited worldwide by FIFA for the homologation of artificial surfaces for futsal. It is also accredited to test the properties of the surfaces in the laboratory and on the pitch itself.
The centres that are accredited to carry out laboratory tests and tests on sports surfaces guarantee the quality and durability of an indoor football pitch, following the FIFA Quality certification regulations.

HOW DOES THE FIFA CERTIFICATION PROCESS FOR FUTSAL SURFACES OPERATE?
The certification process of a FIFA Quality indoor football sports surface is in two phases:
The first phase consists of product testing in the laboratory, while the second is an evaluation of the pitch in situ. Both phases must be carried out by a FIFA-approved centre for the accreditation of futsal pitches.
The in-situ tests need to take into account the interaction between the ball, the players and the surface in a real environment. Once these tests have been passed, the surface obtains the FIFA Quality certificate for futsal.
