A Notified Body is an organisation designated by an EU Member State (or by other countries under specific agreements) to assess the conformity of certain products before being placed on the market.
These bodies are entitled to carry out tasks related to conformity assessment procedures set out in the applicable legislation when the intervention of a third party is required.
AITEX is the Notified Body number 0161 designated by the European Commission for the conformity assessment procedures of certain products:

MARINE EQUIPMENT CERTIFICATION (MED)
AITEX is a Notified Body 0161 for marine equipment according to Directive 2014/90/EU in terms of fire safety and recognized by the International Maritime Organisation, IMO.
The IMO certificate is required for materials, elements and equipment that are included on board vessels or marine equipment and complies with the requirements set out in Directive 2014/90/EU.
The accreditation covers:
> MED/3.1: Primary roof coverings.
> MED/3.3: Fire-fighting equipment: Protective clothing (immediate proximity).
> MED/3.5: Firefighting equipment: Gloves.
> MED/3.13: Non-combustible materials.
> MED/3.18: Surfaces and floor coverings with low flame spread characteristics.
> MED/3.19: Upholstery, curtains, and other hanging textiles.
> MED/3.20: Upholstered furniture.
> MED/3.21: Bedding articles.
AITEX, NOTIFIED BODY FOR CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS. CE MARKING
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS CERTIFICATION
AITEX is a Notified Laboratory for construction products according to Regulation (EU) 305/2011. The Regulation requires that products in the manufacture of a material in which there is a stage or component intended to improve its reaction to fire performance will require the services of an inspection body to manage and control the tests and the manufacturing quality system on a regular basis.
Types of construction materials requiring reaction to fire testing:
> Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings.
> Decorative wall coverings. Wall coverings in the form of rolls and panels.
> Suspended ceilings.
> Stretch ceilings.
> Indoor sports surfaces.
> Self-supporting double-sided metal insulated sandwich panels.
> Factory made products.
> Wood-based panels for use in the construction industry
> Thermal insulation products for building applications. Products manufactured from expanded polystyrene (EPS).
> Manufactured products of rigid polyurethane foam (PUR).
