CERTIFICATION OF SAFETY GOGGLES AND FACE SHIELDS
EYE PROTECTION AND FACE PROTECTION: FACE MASKS AND SAFETY GOGGLES
Eye or face protection equipment is personal protective equipment intended to protect the eyes and face of the worker against risks caused by projections of solid particles or liquids, exposure to optical radiation and against the hazard of short-circuits due to an electric arc.
Sight is a vital sense and is continually subjected to potential hazards in the workplace. Eye protection must be worn to protect against any threat or risk according to the European standard that applies to all eye protection products, which specifies the requirements necessary to declare protection against various risks..
EYE AND FACE PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS. FACE SHIELDING AND SAFETY GLASSES
Face shields and safety glasses must meet the technical criteria contained in EU Regulation 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment in order to be marketed in the European Union.
The conformity assessment of this type of certificate must be carried out by a Notified Body. AITEX is Notified Body number 0161 assigned by the European Commission to assess the conformity of Personal Protective Equipment, as well as for its CE marking before it is placed on the community market.
Face shields and safety glasses can be classified according to categories I, II or III, depending on the protection they provide against various risks and according to their optical and non-optical requirements. Depending on the category to which they belong in each case, face shields or safety glasses must undergo different conformity assessment procedures for their certification.
CLASSIFICATION OF FACE SHIELDS AND SAFETY GOGGLES ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS
CLASSIFICATION OF FACE SHIELDS AND SAFETY SPECTACLES
Depending on the level of protection, eye protectors can be classified according to various criteria:
> OPTICAL CLASS
> 1, 2 or 3. Class 1 is the best optically as it causes less beam deflection (and therefore less distortion). When the filter has more beam deviation, it is classified as class 3 and is therefore not recommended for prolonged use..
> FILTERING EFFECT
> Related to the transmittance of the lens for a given wavelength or radiation. The lower the transmittance, the greater the protection.
CLASSIFICATION OF FACE SHIELDS AND SAFETY SPECTACLES
> OPTICAL GRADUATION
> Whether or not they have optical graduation.
> DESIGN TYPE
> Universal frame spectacles, full frame spectacles, face shields, visors, filters; welding, ultraviolet and infrared radiation, sun protection for occupational use.
