Advanced manufacturing, smart textiles and digitalisation
DIGITAL MODELLING AND SIMULATION FOR DESIGN, PROCESSING AND MANUFACTURING OF ADVANCED MATERIALS
DIMAT
Motivation
However, the European materials industry is unaccustomed to digital technologies. It is therefore crucial to provide all EU stakeholders with advanced digital technologies to evolve towards an agile European materials industry with smart companies that maximise and integrate the usefulness of digital knowledge in materials science.
The multi-scale and multi-material aspects of materials products may require the integration of models with varying levels of sophistication to ensure interoperability of the underlying data.
A total of 4 pilot projects representing 4 manufacturing sectors are considered in the DiMAT project: polymers, composite materials, glass and graphite.
Objectives
The main objective of the DiMAT project is to develop open digital tools with a set of advanced technologies to offer European SMEs and mid-caps an affordable solution a complete modelling, simulation and optimisation system at each stage of the materials value chain with data analysis services and visualization techniques to improve the quality, sustainability, efficiency and competitiveness of materials.
Expected results
-
Economic: Support the transition to industrial digitalisation.
-
Technological: Increase the speed of innovation by optimizing the use of existing research results and facilitating the integration of the results of new projects.
-
Technological-Economic: Design digital tools for industry to improve product efficiency and quality, as well as increase the ability to react better and faster to market changes.
-
Environmental-Social: To contribute to the development of advanced material modelling solutions, in particular for the manufacturing industry.
