AITEX is one of the leading centres qualified to carry out product characterisation, laboratory tests and in situ field tests on sports surfaces and artificial turf, and our laboratory boasts state-of-the-art equipment for this purpose.

Recently, AITEX gained official FIFA, FIBA, WORLD RUGBY and FEP federations recognition as a qualified test centre to examine and certify their sports surfaces.

Basketball courts – FIBA accredited   

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is the world basketball governing body and is responsible for conducting high quality approval programmes for basketball-related products and equipment.

FIBA has accredited AITEX as a recognised and qualified test centre to examine the products of the different manufacturers and to grant this certification in accordance with their requirements.

Rugby pitches – accredited by WORLD RUGBY

WORLD RUGBY is the world body that defines and regulates the rules of rugby and its federations internationally. The body has appointed AITEX as an accredited laboratory to carry out tests on artificial turf rugby pitches.

What is now called World Rugby Regulation 22 was created in 2003 to ensure that artificial turf surfaces replicate the playing qualities of good quality natural grass.

Compliance tests can only be performed by an Accredited Test Centre (ATI) and field tests can only be performed by an accredited technician.

Padel courts – accredited by FEP

The Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) has approved AITEX with the FEP Quality Seal, which is the official recognition of the quality of certain construction materials which must pass the tests.

Futsal courts – FIFA accredited

The FIFA Quality Programme has awarded AITEX the accreditation to analyse futsal floors.

In order to offer optimal playing conditions, the surfaces used in futsal courts must meet very specific performance and quality criteria. AITEX technicians are trained to evaluate these surfaces.

Football pitches – FIFA accredited

Since 2018, AITEX has been one of the laboratories accredited worldwide by FIFA for the homologation of artificial turf football pitches. The centres that are accredited to carry out tests on football pitches are a vital element of the FIFA Quality Programme, as they guarantee the quality and rigour of any football pitch.

AITEX has the necessary capabilities and infrastructure to certify any of these sports surfaces under the aforementioned accreditations. In addition, the Institute provides companies with the technical advice they need in terms of raw materials, quality control, product ageing and other sport-related tests.
