Success at the 1st Cosmetics Industry Meeting by AITEX

The conference was promoted by AITEX and was a meeting point for professionals in the cosmetics sector, bringing together more than a hundred professionals from the sector, mainly from the Valencian Community.
An open day, in face-to-face format, under the theme “Sustainable cosmetics: a trend or social conscience?” addrressing some aspects of sustainability in the cosmetics industry from different professional perspectives.
The legal and regulatory framework was covered by Eliseo Gonzalez, Head of Inspection of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Head of the Cosmetics Industry of the Conselleria de Sanitat de la Generalitat Valenciana. Elena Lunghi, Account Director, Mintel Group Ltd, highlighted current market trends and the immediate future of the beauty and personal care sector with a focus on sustainability. Finally, advances in innovation and R&D&I research were presented by Maria Blanes, Head of the Eco-processes Cosmetics and Health Research Group at AITEX.
During the round table discussion, moderated by Vicente Blanes, Director General of AITEX, current issues were discussed, such as the consumption of bulk cosmetics, a sustainable trend that is increasingly on the rise; solid cosmetics, a format that reduces the use of water; organic packaging; how to obtain new materials from industrial waste and the differences between the concepts of “natural” and “sustainable”.
The conference resumed the face-to-face activities at AITEX and the core objectives were achieved: the pooling of professionals from the Valencian Community where the current relationship between the cosmetics industry and sustainability was highlighted from different perspectives, provided by leading experts in the field.
