Textile garments should above all be comfortable. However, this parameter has unfortunately had to be sacrificed on numerous occasions with a view to incorporating specific protection properties. Normally, these garments end up incorporating lots of layers, which makes them heavier, more rigid, less breathable and they retain more heat. Therefore, AITEX runs a research area focusing on functional textiles with high thermal comfort, based on the design of novel textile structures and the incorporation of hollow fibres which favour the dissipation of heat and improve breathability.
